  Committed to Excellence...

The Newton County Sheriff's Office is an Equal Opportunity Employer seeking only the most qualified candidates regardless of race, creed, color, sex, national origin, or disability. As a full service Sheriff's Office we offer our employees opportunities to work in many different aspects of law enforcement.

The application process begins with a job announcement posting. Please monitor the Newton County Human Resources website to view current announcements. No applications will be accepted unless an announcement has been posted.

When a position has been posted, please download the Sheriff's Office application packet from the link on the bottom of this page. Follow the instructions in the packet and return the completed packet along with all supporting documentation to:

Newton County Human Resources
1124 Clark Street
Covington, GA 30014

All completed applications will be reviewed and the most highly qualified applicants will be selected for an oral interview. Candidates selected for further processing will undergo a comprehensive background investigation, including completion of a computer voice stress analysis.

Upon completion of the background investigation, selected candidates will be given a conditional offer of employment. After a conditional offer of employment is made candidates must successfully complete a psychological exam, medical exam, drug test, and a final interview with the Sheriff or his designee in order to be hired.
