Sheriff Brown photoClean Up In Gum Tree and Plum Orchard Communities

Newton County Sheriff’s Office is not only committed to keeping crime off the streets of Newton County but also cleaning up and removing the “Trash”. Gum Tree and Plum Orchard is a high crime area littered with trash and dilapidated homes throughout the community. On Saturday, March 19, 2016 NCSO staff along with State Representative Pamela Dickerson literally cleaned and removed waste and debris along the streets and homes in this community. The residents were appreciative of this contribution and expressed their gratitude for NCSO efforts. Sheriff Brown has committed to making it his mission to revive the streets of Newton County by continuing to be a working “hands on” Sheriff.

Sheriff Brown Gives Presentation to Newton County Rotary Club

On March 22, 2016, Sheriff Brown gave a detail presentation to the Newton County Rotary Club held at the First United Methodist Church. The PowerPoint presentation displayed how NCSO has grown over the years. Sheriff Brown released information related to the daily call volume received within the agency and calls per deputy assigned in all divisions to include law enforcement and correctional division. He has made mention in times past how the Sheriff’s Office has been constrained to “doing more with less” and the statistical report presented truly stands as evidence. Though NCSO works on a smaller budget than other full service agencies, we have been able to accomplish more than most agencies, states Sheriff Brown. This statement rings true with NCSO’s accreditation accomplishments. NCSO is currently only one step from being a triple-crown agency, in which there are only 3 in the State of Georgia and 53 in the United States that have achieved that status.

Michelin Fun Day

Newton County Sheriff’s Office participated in the annual Michelin Fun Day held March 26, 2016 at Newton County Fairgrounds. NCSO set up a table to share goodie bags, literature and hand-outs about the agency and community outreach efforts. The deputies also initiated the bike raffle for 2-10”, 2-12” and 2-16” bicycles.

Career Day at West Newton

West Newton Elementary held its annual “Career Day” on March 31, 2016. Newton County Sheriff’s Office was one of the agencies invited to speak to a group of K-4th grade students. NCSO CHAMPS and Community Outreach unit were on site to give detail on why they chose the career of a deputy.
